Extremely delighted that my recent piece on the EU’s rule of law conditionality and the #NGEU was added as a resource to the #SchumanNetwork - it speaks for the excellent collaboration between the DCU Brexit Institute and the Fondation Fondation Schuman. More to come in the future.
Great to connect with Italian and German friends and discuss how to strengthen bilateral security and defence cooperation within the EU framework at the Spinelli Forum Alumni Edition and the #Next Milano Forum last week at Università Bocconi. Big thanks to Institut für Europäische Politik and ISPI!
Last week, I had the chance to attend the Horizon Europe Express2project project kick-off at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona — a fantastic exchange with experts & scholars to research and propose a new, democratic, inclusive and sustainable European social contract. Looking forward to the project!
I am thrilled to share my latest EU Law Live analysis on the EU's Trade Defence Instruments and China. In case T-762/20, the EU Court of Justice upheld the European Commission's significant distortions methodology while nullifying the decision for calculating errors.

In another twist, Charles Michel decided to pull out of the European Parliament elections race in 2024. This is good news for the stability of the EU Council, as he will complete his mandate until November 2024. The risk of Orbán Viktor becoming acting Charles Michel is off the table
Today, the European Central Bank decided to leave the € interest rate at a stunning 4% to tame inflation in the Eurozone. Two weeks ago, Philip Lane, Member of the Executive Board, explained the central bank’s policy direction at the Annual REBUILD Centre Conference. It was a fascinating talk!
Fascinating keynote speech today by College of Europe Rector and former European Commission HR/VP Federica Mogherini at the DCU Brexit Institute highlighting the EU’s commitment to Ukraine. “The EU is there to stay in Ukraine. They are bound together. It’s a commitment for the long term.”
Last week, Petri Sarvamaa’s remarkable resolution on calling on the EU Council & Member States to trigger Art. 7 (2) TEU against Hungary easily passed the European Parliament.
The ball is now in the field of the European Commission, Member States & EU Council to move the procedure forward.
This week we’re hosting a fascinating event at Dublin City University with former European Commission HR/VP and current College of Europe Rector Federica Mogherini on EU Foreign & Security Policy

Fascinating discussion with Tánaiste Micheál Martin at the Hertie School. Highlighting the importance of the voice of small Member States in the European Union, the need to reconnect the EU to its citizens & the significance to address the challenges of the future of the EU.
I was honoured to present my research on the rule of law & conditionality in the EU Economic Governance framework at European Parliament in Ireland. Thanks for the thoughtful comments by Beatrice Monciunskaite. Indeed fantastic REBUILD Centre event organized by Christy Petit. Thank you for the invite!
Bold & much-needed initiative by MEP Petri Sarvamaa to bring Art. 7 forward. It has been in stalemate since 2018 - now it’s time for action.
Given the irresponsible resignation of Charles Michel, depriving Orbán Viktor of voting rights in the Council is the right way forward.
