World Book day has brought fabulous costumes, clothing and creativity as our theme today was Reuse and Recycle linked with the book Mother Earth is Weeping. Art using plastic bottles, dressing up in costumes from around the house and guess the shelfie were parts of the fun.

Well done to our Norwood A team who continued their unbeaten run with a fantastic performance against a strong Farnborough team in the Laurie Parr cup competition. Despite one or two scares, the boys ended the game with another clean sheet and a comprehensive 4-0 scoreline.

A unique night out for a large group of Year 6, who went to watch Tonga v Papua New Guinea in St. Helens in the Rugby League World Cup. Even more incredible was the opportunity 18 of them had in leading out the Papua New Guinea team onto the field. What an experience!

Norwood's assembly theme this week also celebrated Black History Month with the children hearing about the story of The Windrush and the racism amny people faced, the y listened to music from Scott Joplin and also they learned a new song to sing - 'Reach Out I'll Be There'.

Congratulations to our Norwood A team who kicked off the new season by winning the EFC 7-a-side tournament! After finishing top of their group, they went on to beat Farnborough in the semi final before beating St Jeromes on penalties after the game ended 2-2. Well done boys!

Norwood celebrated the re-launch of ROAR - our whole school approach to mental health. Rainbow and all the colours associated with it could be seen in the children and staff's clothes as this was the theme for the day as children were reintroduced to this programme.

What a brilliant first day back at school we had yesterday with the sun shining and as always the children looking so smart and well scrubbed for the new term and a new year. So many new adventures and new challenges to face, but we know this is going to be their best year!

What a marvellous time the Year 4, 5 and 6 girls footballers had watching Netherlands v Portugal at Leigh Sports Stadium on Wednesday night in the Euros. Even though it was a late bedtime, it was an amazing experience for them! And 5 goals too!

Incredibly proud of our fantastic A team, who beat Farnborough on penalties after coming back from 2-0 down at half time. An incredible achievement and the first time Norwood have won the Duddy Shield in 45 years! What a season, what a fantastic team - well done!

An fun-packed week with sporting events and visits taking place across all year groups.

Tuesday saw our Y6 cricketers fail by just 2 runs in the final at Fleetwood Hesketh, while the Y4 team enjoyed their visit to Sphinx tennis. Last night Y3 went to see Lancashire T20 cricket.

Well done our Fun Netballers , who played their first ever netball tournament yesterday in Formby. Although they didn't win many games, they now want to play again!

An absolutely unbelievable performance from our Norwood A team tonight to beat Churchtown 1-0 in the semi final of the Duddy Shield. The boys worked incredibly hard - especially after an afternoon of Sports Day as well. We now face Ainsdale or Farnborough in the final next month!

We at Norwood can fully endorse what a fabulous way this is it to train to teach - real on the job training and with so much support from all the staff at North West SCITT. We have had some terrific students for out first year!

Today's assembly celebrated all the Different Families we have at Norwood - all 446 of them as well as the importance of tolerance, respect and love!

We are delighted to report that following Primary Admissions Day on Tuesday, we have filled our 90 places in Reception! That means that from September, we will be finally complete as a 3 form entry primary school. Hurray!

What a week it has been! Teams sent to tournaments for Year 2 Football, Y5/6 Tag Rugby, Year 6 Table Tennis and most of all our Swimming Team - champions in the Southport Primary schools Large Schools Gala for the first time in at least 20 years!

Oh Year 5 what a treat you have had today with a visit to you all from celebrated children's author Frank Cottrell Boyce! He was mighty impressed with your questions and was also delighted that you have so enjoyed reading his novel 'Cosmic' in class.

… Our A team won all 4 of their league games tonight, and didn’t concede a single goal! Fantastic efforts from everybody involved, with more girls football, tag rugby and cross country to look forward to next week. Well done everyone.
