Long story short: I just walked to Poland.

It was a hellish 20-hour journey undertaken in the middle of winter with thousands of refugees. I saw some terrible things:

The jokes about war by people in the west are obviously very distasteful and tone deaf but it's the assumption that there weren't any wars going on between now and ww2 that really gets me.
