Alright: given everyone's so interested in the data search engine from yesterday -

(A) if you're looking for *online, free, or open datasets* to do science, where do you look? What are the most common sources or databases?

(B) what field are you in?

Retweets pls.

What's the reason for the crisis in translational research? Because we want the behavioral tests to be quick easy cheap automated. AND we are obsessed with slapping a big label on any parameters that happened to be significant.

This actually matches a dataset we are looking to publish (soon) very well - both with regards to frequency of inappropriate duplications and the breakdown of types. I think we may have to get used to the idea that fraudulent studies are much more common than previously thought.

The kids at the next table at this brew pub first loudly discussed 'ancient' video game consoles. Now they have turned to discussing 9/11, with the eldest trying to convince the others that it had a major impact. I am slowly turning into a pile of dust.

Timothy Errington presents brilliant work on his attempt to replicate preclinical cancer studies. Not easy, though, given low detail in papers and many authors unwilling to cooperate (but several others did). On average, effect sizes found were lowers then those reported.

Does preregistration work? Well,
Julia Menon is set out to find out, with her new comparison study of preregistered vs. non-preregistered papers from the same teams and period of time. Well thought out design and interesting preliminary results.
