I am grateful that the House of Representatives have passed SB 1211. This bill will increase the maximum time of imprisonment for strangulation offenses from 3 years to 10 years. Thank you to Kristen Thompson and John George for your leadership.
I appreciate the House of Representatives passing SB 1658 to eliminate the statute of limitations for rape when an assailant confesses or when identity is established through DNA. Thank you to Jessica Garvin
and State Rep. Jon Echols for your work on this much needed bill.
Congressman Tom Cole is poised to become the first Oklahoman to serve as Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. What a tremendous honor for Congressman Cole, and an historic opportunity for the State of Oklahoma. Congratulations, Rep. Tom Cole!
Grateful to the House Judiciary-Criminal Comm today for approving SB 1211. This measure by Kristen Thompson & John George strengthens penalties for strangulation of intimate
partners, household members & is a key recommendation of the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board.
