It's between the roundabout at the junction with the A1246 and the A63, and the roundabout at the A63 and A162 junction. No access to or from the A1 at junction 42.

We're at the scene of a serious collision on the A65 between Draughton & Addingham near Chelker Reservoir.

The road is closed in both directions and motorists should avoid the area and find an alternative route at this time.

Appeal following fatal collision south of Boroughbridge 👇

We are appealing for information and witnesses following a fatal collision that happened overnight on the A1(m).

Tragically a 31-year-old man died at the scene.

Update 1.45pm

It is illegal to use a mobile phone when driving . Sadly, we have witnessed motorists driving past and filming the scene.

We have taken registration details of approximately 30 vehicles, and we will follow up with action against the drivers.

Update - Our collision investigation work has concluded at the scene.

We are now working with @highwaysyorks to clear the significant amount of debris and oil.

We're hoping that the southbound carriageway will be open for this evening's rush hour.

An appeal will follow.

Traffic Alert

We're dealing with a serious RTC which occurred at 02.12am on the A1 south.

Its currently closed between J48 (Boroughbridge) and J47 (Allerton Park) and is expected to be for some time.

The northbound was also closed but is now open again.

In my experience Operation Tutelage as part of Drive Insured is a great initiative. It alerts those who may have made a genuine mistake to rectify the issue thereby allowing us to concentrate on those wilfully driving uninsured. Many of those stops lead to further offences #OpTutelage
