Interesting piece about Coten End, the Larkin house in Warwick. Crying out for a blue plaque. Sadly our efforts to support one have not been successful.

[2/2] In it John Harris says 'I have only come across one article pointing out the similarities of Larkin and Morrissey'
In 1997, I wrote about exactly this in my BA dissertation! In Hull. It might even still be in the Library, if he's ever thinking of writing a follow up..??

Come to sunny Hull in March 2024 (NB might not really be sunny). The PLS conference is going to be excellent, whatever the weather. Speakers including David Quantick and Blake Morrison.

Does anyone still have a PLS membership card? I think we stopped issuing them in about 2015. Should we bring them back?

“The sky is white as clay, with no sun. / Work has to be done. / Postmen, like doctors, go from house to house.”
1977 The TLS publishes Aubade by Larkin - honest, quietly chilling, and perfect. Happy anniversary to all who celebrate 😉. PhilipLarkinSociety
