In April, researchers from the USherbrooke were at #CHARS to conduct snow depth measurements. They flew 3 drones for 3 different measurements. One to create a surface model of the snow. One to can map snow depth. One to detect ground freeze and thaw cycles. How 'cool' is that?

In early April, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, UBC, UManitoba and ArcticNet hosted a drone workshop at #CHARS ! The purpose of the workshop was to give participants tools to use drones to study and monitor the wildlife and environment around them and become certified drone pilots!

In April, visiting researchers from USherbrooke were at #CHARS to study the properties of the snow and its microstructure using a dual-Ku radar. This radar is a concept for a satellite mission that will potentially be in orbit. Can you guess what other tools they used?

Last week, members of York University, in partnership with the Nunavut Association of Municipalities visited CHARS. They delivered a pilot program for youth interested in water careers. This marks the first step towards implementing the technical program across the territory.

Scientists from the Météo-France IVORI project have been on rotation at CHARS to monitor the evolution of the snowpack. The purpose of the IVORI measurement campaign is to observe the seasonal evolution of snow microstructure in the Arctic using X-ray tomography. Pretty 'cool'!
