Have I read this right?

A practice nurse is unable to be recruited to a GP surgery in Camden… so they are going to recruit a ‘higher level of personnel’… a PA

The absolute insult to nurses.

🤦🏽‍♂️

A quick question…

Why are there no minimum training standards for long term condition management in general practice?

Seems incredulous when you say it out loud, doesn’t it?

I’m just referring a patient I’ve seen to the local Talking Therapies service.

46 questions later…

NHS efficiencies at their finest. I just don’t have time for this in my clinics.

20 months post qualifying and I have been offered a job equivalent to top band 6 in general practice.
Blowing my own trumpet, I know. But am very proud of myself right now!
There’s lots of scope for progression in GP, that’s for sure!

Interesting read.

I have a level 7 PgCert in a specialist area of care - practice nursing.

I bet it won’t cut the mustard for ARRS funding though…

Salaried GPs have a standard rate of remuneration upheld by the BMA and DDRB.

Serious question: how do we organise board recommendations and standard contracts for GPNs? How do we make this happen? Not just talk about, but seriously make headway to put this in place?

can you hand your work colleague a pot of fetid stool, and they receive it entirely unfazed. Often examining it more closely than is entirely necessary.

The QNI has called for ‘clear guidance’ on the ‘scope and limits’ of nursing associates amid reports of those in post running independent clinics in general practice. The Queen's Nursing Institute bit.ly/3HP0NPB

‘Often, as GPNs we just “get on with it” under the guise of helping our patients. If we’re running late in clinics, we often blame ourselves,' says GPN Lee Collins bit.ly/3OobKeU

Although it may be too early to answer these questions. How is this likely to affect existing GPNs employed by practices?

Will they be sacked and then re-hired by the PCN? Will they leave their jobs in droves and seek employment in a big merry-go-round?

Time will tell.

We need the same set of standards and standardisation of scope of practice, the waters are muddy, let’s make them clear

John Launer The BMJ I love this! I try to emphasise to people that heart failure means a whole range of things.

The French use the term “insufficance cardiaque” which feels a bit kinder to me?

I tell people this, that some have a mild “insufficiency” and others have worse heart muscle weakness.
