Our second workshop, led by our outgoing convenor Emma Blake , was a very thought provoking discussion on gender, particularly hearing about the lived experience of a young person.

Onto the workshops! First up, learning about the mental health needs of children and adolescents in Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities from the Margaret Clitherow Trust

Children need to feel secure in order to learn. School staff are well placed to help children feel secure, but need to be supported and empowered to do this #pmha24

Caring relationships with professionals can be a “BUFFER” against adverse childhood experiences.

Pastoral staff in particular, in schools, can be critical as a protective mechanism, given the amount of contact time.

The hearts and heads team share the complex situations children experience. In a school class, there is likely to be:
-1 pupil with a parental death
-up to 10 living in poverty
-1 with lifelong experience of domestic abuse
-unknown how many have an incarcerated parent #pmha24
