New amendments to the Rules of the Supreme Court of Canada coming into effect on June 3, 2024. Mostly what I'd call clean-ups and quality-of-life changes, but here's what will have the bigger impacts on anyone with matters before the :

16 years ago, I went to an REM/Modest Mouse concert and thought that the REM dudes were old (and awesome) rockers.

Tonight I’m at the Death Cab concert, and…time has passed for all of us apparently. Not sure how I feel about this.

And, both the criminal Charter case and the CCLA case get leave.

The CCLA case will be (as far as I recall) the first case dealing with COVID restrictions to get up to the Supreme Court!

Quite the week!

A reminder that what has gone up to 66.67% is the capital gains inclusion rate (for capital gains above $250K).

The marginal tax rate high earners will pay on capital gains is at most ~35%.

High earners still keep at least 65% of capital gains. The middle class much more.
