i cannot say enough how proud i am of my female and Black colleagues for saying enough is enough, and demanding the tens of thousands of dollars they are owed.

Many feelings today. I’m angry it had to come to this, but so grateful for these kickass, brave journalists who are unconscionably paid less than their peers and are demanding things change for younger/future generations of women + people of color in the Chicago Tribune newsroom.

I support my co workers’ fight for better wages from a parent company that has siphoned off company resources with the same energy of a ravenous leech.

All seven of these co-workers are outstanding journalists. To illustrate that point, just a week ago, on the same day, Darcel was named a Nieman fellow at Harvard and Christy Gutowski won the prestigious Anne Keegan Award from the Chicago Headline Club.
