I was thrilled to find this juvenile grass snake in our field this afternoon!

The bluebells are nearly over, but our little wood is still looking resplendent with snowy drifts of wild garlic. How I love this time of year!

Anyone walking around Slapton Ley today - please look out for this poorly hedgehog. I’ve just seen this message from our local rescue.

I’m very proud to work for this rescue, it was lovely to meet Gillian Burke and team. It is sad though to see the effect climate change is having on hedgehog behaviour.

I've found this fascinating and beautiful fungus in our field. Apparently it's a species of Earthstar & and has much supernatural folklore associated with it. The Blackfoot Sioux first nation called them 'ka-ka-toos' (fallen stars).

Less than a year on from installing this box, a barn owl has found it! Photos captured by the trail camera. We are thrilled - hoping now for a pair!

A poignant reminder on our Dartmoor walk today.

We’re pretty sure this is a summer harvest mouse nest - a great find on son’s land. He’s reported it to the Devon Harvest Mouse Project.

Now the summer is over and the crowds have departed, I’ve returned to the beach. Lovely to see flowers still blooming on this stretch and butterflies brought out by the autumn sunshine. I have a new walking companion.

I have never been on a protest march before, but I will definitely be attending this one. Hopefully Chris will have an offer of the expertise he needs to organise it.

This was a lovely find in our field the other day: a summer dormouse nest. It’s great to know they’re still here, we hadn’t found evidence for quite a while.

We live and work near this beautiful river. It is so sad to read of the pollution it is suffering and its impact on wildlife, in this well researched article. It is the same story for many rivers in the UK. We will be writing to our MP - perhaps others will do the same?

Just a little update, I’m very happy to say that this puppy was found several days later, whimpering under a tree in Moreleigh. Her family are extremely grateful to all the local people who turned out to search and all the social media shares. So pleased it was a happy ending! 😊
