We should always remember that there is a dark flip side to empowerment regarding lifestyle factors that influence cancer risk, and that's that patients can interpret being told about them as saying it's their fault they got cancer.

One thing that resonated at : Dr. Cory Donovan told the audience about being diagnosed with breast cancer and how, when told that diet and obesity contribute to breast cancer, heard as the doctor telling her that it was her fault that she got breast cancer.

Saying that people lost their battle with cancer suggests that, had they tried harder, they might have survived.

But Ruby & Fred didn’t die of cancer because they didn’t try hard enough.

They died because we haven’t yet found a treatment that will cure them.

The idea of is not new. It's been over a decade since I first noticed antivaxxers fantasizing about 'tribunals' to 'try' pediatricians, public health officials, and pharma and then execute them ('string 'em up'). One even imagined using guillotines instead of hanging.

I *always* knew right from the beginning that all these anti- antivaxxers were going to become just antivaxxers. It was inevitable, and I have yet to see an exception. They've all become just antivax or have started characterizing old antivax tropes as 'reasonable.'

In the immediate aftermath of an awful event with 0 information, it seemed like so many people on this app *wanted* this to be linked to terrorism for their own political point scoring and I sincerely hope you all log off, reflect and find some humanity like jesus f^^cking christ

Jonathan Alter Mark Jacob Hundreds of thousands of unvaccinated Americans needlessly died of Covid. I have seen a range of estimates of the number of preventable Covid deaths—from a low end of 200K to a high end of 400K.

That is just a stunning, heartbreaking number of people who need not have died!

Covid vaccines saved more than three million American lives. Those people would be dead had they listened to RFK Jr. when he told them the vaccine wasn’t safe. THREE MILLION LIVES. Let’s focus on that, folks. commonwealthfund.org/blog/2022/two-…

i say this a lot but it’s crazy how some humans can have such smart engineering minds to come up with this shit to make skyscrapers withstand earthquakes while some humans think the earth is flat and that vaccines cause autism just based off vibes

Henry Madison It’s more like ‘vaccine confusion’ because politicians and health authorities have been so poor in messaging and delivery

I never understood why governments don’t establish walk-in vaccination clinics in major shopping centres etc for the flu season

My husband died 2 days ago after 6 years with cancer. When I see this shit it makes me so angry. Not just as a physician but as someone who has wished everyday that cancer had a cure.
