Ollie Williams Just van Rossum Roel Nieskens It's true that some parameters of the font affect the rendered position of the icon, such as some parameters in the font that control the default line height. Fonts produced through the Font Icon Platform will be as uniform as possible and will look consistent in most browsers.

The average custom icon font is probably made by drawing icons in Adobe Illustrator, outputting them as SVG and then throwing the SVG into a tool like IcoMoon. Not sure if that approach would be as performant?
