PO Jan took this footage of giant hogweed growing near the River Urie during site visits in March. This site was treated last year but it will take several years of consistent control to eradicate the plant due to the seedbank present in the soil. 1/2

This is Sticta canariensis, or the Canary Islands lungwort, found recently in East Kintyre. Lichens are a symbiosis between a fungus & either algae or cyanobacteria. This species can contain either! This is the green version, which contains algae & is much rarer.
