Was honored to keynote the 'Universities and Power' symposium that top scholar #YalileSuriel put together at the University of Minnesota. While there, I was able to pay respects at the place where police murdered #GeorgeFloyd . I learned a lot in Minneapolis. Thanks to all!
Learned from the good buddy and #topscholar , Dr. CBS Prof. Burden-Stelly, who stopped by Critical Debates in Black Studies class at Amherst College before engaging a wonderful discussion at the UMass Amherst WEB Du Bois Afro-American Studies Dept. w/Prof. #ToussaintLosier !
The students in my 'Rap, Reagan, and the 1980s' crack me up! One said #RonaldReagan and #MargaretThatcher were like the not Black and not as cool version of Gina and Martin. Another said they were like the neoliberal Bonnie and Clyde. Hilarious! #ProudProf
My 'Critical Debates in Black Studies' class at Amherst College just had the most generative debate on whether #BlackStudies should be a required subject in American ed institutions from elementary to higher ed! I wish the nation would take up the debate w/such sincerity & care.
As I brace myself for all the fake takes and crazy misinterpretations and mischaracterizations of #MartinLutherKingJr 's words, here is a piece that addresses the need for mental health in the movement. I'm quoted on a couple spaces. wordinblack.com/2024/01/evolut…
