As a senior academic in a leading university, my line manager- a woman professor- complained when I didn't come into work the day after I had my miscarriage, asked me why I wanted more children when I already had one, and she was the poster child for at this…

When I was in grad school, my son(1 yo then) ended up in the ICU with RSV for 3 nights. I missed an assignment during that time. When I explained the situation, the prof. said “you should have planned better.” I saw her post today on supporting 😑😑😑

I lived through academic redundancy processes during my time at Southampton. They are incredibly damaging to staff morale and mental health - everyone is affected, whether they are on the list deemed ‘at risk’ of redundancy or not. Takes years to recover the lost ground.

The Daily Express would like to hide the fact that they’ve issued an apology to Prof Kate Sang, a UCU member that they smeared.

Let’s not allow them to do that. Please share.

This is widely known and not surprising at all! But at least NSF is concerned and will hopefully attempt to address this. Is there a similar study by the government or UK Research and Innovation? If yes, would love to see what is being recommended for UK.
