In less than 24 hours, on April 24-25, Lampung Highway Patrol, Lampung BKSDA with the help of FLIGHT succeeded in thwarting 2 attempts to smuggle thousands of birds of various species transported using inter-city buses and private cars bound for Java Island.

On April 17, the judge at East Jakarta District Court sentenced Rifal Achmad to 2 years in prison and a fine of IDR 50,000,000 for illegally trading 8 eagles of various types, 1 Javan Lutung and 1 Javan Surili.

On April 19, FLIGHT supported a joint patrol to rescue 4 King Birds-of-paradise, 1 Moluccan Electus, 1 Red Lory and 3 Wallabies from smuggling attempts at Murhum Port, Southeast Sulawesi.

These animals were transported on a passenger ship departing from Papua to Jakarta.

On March 16, we assisted the Wan Abdul Rachman Grand Forest Park (Tahura) Management Unit to conduct patrols in the forest area. This patrol was conducted to ensure that the birds were safe from poachers' traps.

Several species of birds that we released were spotted.

Information collected by FLIGHT on the illegal wildlife trade in Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Maluku in the last two weeks led to the rescue of 6 Proboscis Monkeys, 40 yellow-streaked lories, 2 Sulawesi Hornbills, 3 Leopard cats, and a Grey Langur in three different locations.
