Yesterday around 4pm the 3 Chinook’s that had been on Exercise KUKRI DAWN returned to RAF Benson.

28(AC) Squadron deployed to RAF Valley on Exercise KUKRI DAWN, supported by Joint Helicopter Support Squadron (JHSS).

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the Great Escape. On the 24 March 1944, a mass escape of 76 Allied Soldiers from Stalag Luft III, a Prisoner of War camp in Poland, was set into motion and remains one of history’s most famous prison breaks.

A Heli-Handling Team from the RAF Benson Joint Helicopter Support Squadron recently worked alongside the Royal School of Military Engineering (3 RMSE) to practise rigging a 5 bay Medium Girder Bridge as an underslung load by a RAF Chinook Helicopter.

A Mobile Air Operations Team from #RAFBenson visited 230 Squadron in Brunei for 3 weeks in January.

The visit was to inspect all landing sites used by 230 Sqn to ensure they remain safe for the Puma to use.

Time to Talk at RAF Benson.

Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. The mental health and wellbeing team on station, supported the day by creating a space for those in our workplace to come together to talk, listen and change lives.

The #RAFBenson Women’s Network aims to provide a supportive community that is a safe, positive, accessible and empowering space for all Women.

The introduction to weights event was designed to empower women to feel welcome in the gym and focus on strength training routines.

230 Sqn, Santa Flight.

Santa hitched a lift on a routine training flight, to deliver presents to children at Hornbill School, aged between 5 and 11.

230 Sqn are deployed in Brunei to provide Medical Evacuation capability.

RAF Benson delivered Op CHRISTMAS.

The RAF Benevolent Fund provided a grant for festive hampers and worked with RAF Widows Association and the Royal British Legion to identify beneficiaries.

In the spirit of the season personnel from the RAF Benson community entered into a Fun Run to raise funds in support of RAF Association.

A RAF Benson Puma Helicopter from 33 Sqn, has flown #Santa to Oxfordshire Childrens Hospital to deliver over 200 presents donated by RAF Benson personnel & their families, and children from over 35 local schools, in 5 years the Santa Drop has donated approximately 1000 presents

Men across RAF Benson have grown Moustaches this past month to raise awareness for Men’s Health and to encourage talking and actively listening.
