Removal of 19th c. overpaintings of a portrait of Isabella de' Medici, c1570, attr. to Allesandro Allor revealed a far less flattering likeness. Also obscured were a halo and an alabaster jar, two referemces to Mary Magdalene. Given her tragic life, not inappropriate.
