This thread reminds me that under New Labour & then the Cameron/Osborne/Coalition government they began to eliminate Remploy, with the assistance of disability charities, as they sold the idea that disabled people would easily get work in the jobs market anyway.

Cameron closed Remploy while IDS took an axe to social security so they've got form. Problem Sunak has though I suspect are the many people who had to access the labyrinthine systems of DWP during Covid for the first time who now realise it's not the easy life the Tories suggest.

Remember this Tory Govt shutdown. Remploy in 2013 it was an organisation that gave the disabled a head start in the world of work, a great organisation that could have expanded on and made even better and giving the disabled a better chance of being employed.

But the history of the Conservatives for 14 years has been to shut down such existing services (see the Remploy factories), so please forgive my cynicism.

They operated Remploy scheme years ago to help create jobs for disabled people & decided to scrap that as the govt employees running it didn't understand business.
The only thing they understand is how to screw people over. Hence this is their focus.

After closing what was left of Remploy, Porcine Cameron then allowed the 'Remploy' brand to be sold to a company called Maximus. Who at the time were putting disabled people through some of the most humiliating & inhuman tests to make sure people were disabled enough for DLA/PIP
