I was proud to stand with my colleagues to show how Democrats are fighting back and standing up for the people.

For more than 40% of Americans on Social Security, it's the only retirement benefit they have. Democrats are fighting to enhance benefits and strengthen #SocialSecurity . Republicans offered a plan to cut taxes for the wealthy and slash hard-working Americans' earned benefits.

There are two paths:

- Expand Social Security and tax billionaires (or in DC speak: 'raise revenue')
- Cut Social Security benefits to protect billionaires

At yesterday's hearing, all three Republican witnesses said NO to taxing billionaires. Their plan is to cut benefits.

Today we stand with the Virginia Tech community and remember those we lost.
