Finding creative outlets is so important in helping veterans, wounded warriors, and service members recover and heal. So I enjoyed learning more about Armed Services YMCA’s Woodturning Program — and trying it out for myself (I made a pen)!

It was so great to celebrate the grand opening of the La Maestra Family Clinic in El Cajon — and see the $750,000 in federal dollars I secured turn into a reality! This clinic will help ensure that more folks in our community have access to primary and specialty health care.

Very disappointed by Uganda's Constitutional Court decision to uphold most of the Anti-Homosexuality Act including the death penalty for same-sex relationships. This law jeopardizes Uganda's public health and global reputation. I support LGBTQ+ Ugandans and their human rights.

Addressing the housing and homelessness crisis in San Diego is one of my biggest priorities, so I’m proud I secured $850,000 in federal funds to build a safe parking site in Grantville. It was great to visit the site and see all the plans they have to serve people there.

.President Biden just announced new plans to cancel student debt for over 30 million people! Instead of paying off skyrocketing interest or chipping away at debt they've had for decades, millions of people will be free to live their lives without a shadow of endless debt over them.

Our community colleges are at the forefront of preparing our kids for their future careers. So it was great to visit a culinary arts class at Grossmont College, get to know their students, and hear about why they want to pursue a career in the culinary arts.

Our moms have done so much for us, and yet so many moms – especially moms of color – lack the agency and autonomy to create the lives they want. So I was glad to join a roundtable with Mothering Justice to discuss how we achieve reproductive justice, paid leave, and so much more.
