There were 41 zoo and/or circus elephant deaths and 20 sanctuary deaths in 2023, (plus countless temple, wild, logging, tourist elephants that are not in these counts)

This law was signed by a Republican president after a bipartisan Congress voted it into existence. Half a century later, imagine how few species would be left without it.

Not much has changed for Ruth & Emily except the seasons. Fall flew by and now they're inside the barn more due to the cold.

So on a gorgeous night like last night, Ruth was stuck inside. Emily may be allowed out. The one thing that would really help Ruth's arthritis is to move around. Instead she was inside the barn since 1 pm and likely will be confined until 10 am today.

We are combining the 9/23 #TasteofFreedom for Ruth & Emily with our annual #ElephantAppreciationDay event!
AND we can reach adults whose ties to the Zoo isn't about giving their kids a special 'treat.' Instead, they can take a hard look at the animals' lives & #rethinkcaptivity .
