I am still shocked by this and can't get over the ideological gall of it all. So I haven't said much but permit me a couple of comments.

The major mechanism that federal taxes are returned to the provinces in terms of research funding is what we call tri-council funding. /1

As a PhD who has researched my little face off and filled out more grant applications than I can count, this is horrifying to me... I can't even describe how dangerous this is to academic freedom and the amazing research happening in Alberta.

Researchers have already received offers to move out of Alberta because of this government’s hostility towards Advanced Education.

Bill 18 is going to lead us to losing talent, jobs and research that helps Albertans in their every day lives.
