A NICU nightmare! Imagine the stress on a family to have to relocate to another province to be with their newborns likely with no family supports.

We are now a have-not place to live if you need healthcare. We need help from our neighbours because 5 years ago the UCP decided to…

Simply appalling.

I'm a hockey fan. From Calgary. For heaven's sake take the arena $ and fund healthcare properly.

This is simply absurd and shows a callousness and heartlessness I've only associated with other countries before.

Alberta we can do better.

The Minister saying that there's NO need for the South Edmonton hospital is laughable.

Residents here have wanted it for years & I continue to hear from folks every single day who are wanting updates on this hospital. When will this government start listening?

A court order demands the UCP disclose coal mining documents to landowners. But they don't want to... This government has forgotten that they were elected to serve Albertans. If Albertans have questions, they should answer them. cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…

Thank you Global Edmonton for featuring W Andy Knight, Ping Lam Ip and I.

We discuss Bill 18 and how research Ping Lam and I have done shows that the federal government is not favouring “liberal” disciplines through funding.

Thank you W Andy Knight Rhiannon Hoyle Rachel Notley Janis Irwin and the Alberta NDP for highlighting the research Ping Lam Ip and I have done on the claim that federal funding is being disproportionately awarded to progressive disciplines.

Had the privilege to meet medical students from the U of A and U of C!

While many want to go into primary care, nearly half said they'd consider leaving Alberta b/c of the current state of healthcare system.

We need to do all we can to keep doctors in Alberta.

🧵With the introduction of Bill 18 and the Alberta Premier's comments on federal funding being unfairly distributed to liberal disciplines, my research partner and I pulled the Social Science and Humanities Research Council funding data from the past 10 years.

I am still shocked by this and can't get over the ideological gall of it all. So I haven't said much but permit me a couple of comments.

The major mechanism that federal taxes are returned to the provinces in terms of research funding is what we call tri-council funding. /1

As a PhD who has researched my little face off and filled out more grant applications than I can count, this is horrifying to me... I can't even describe how dangerous this is to academic freedom and the amazing research happening in Alberta.

Researchers have already received offers to move out of Alberta because of this government’s hostility towards Advanced Education.

Bill 18 is going to lead us to losing talent, jobs and research that helps Albertans in their every day lives.

Albertans do have a right to know where grant dollars go. And they can. All of that is public information. Researchers always share their funding and granting sources. It's in every paper, on every poster, and in every presentation. This is not a justification for Bill 18.
