More Brexit news in Obs as 'every consignment of camembert, steak, tulips and chives would be subject to fees of up to £145. Small retailers such as delis and farm shops have been scrambling to make sure they still have products to sell.' Naturally not reported on BBC

An unexpectedly moving account of yet another unhappy consequence of putting our national destiny in the hands of ignorant & venal politicians. Their supporters, to whom most media still panders, will respond by saying:“Don’t care. Don’t like spaghetti.” theguardian.com/food/2024/apr/…

🚨🚨🚨 University of York Vice-Chancellor says half of all universities are cutting jobs and courses. What that means is that the prospectus you or your kids sign up for may be nothing like what you get. Are you happy with that? 🚨🚨🚨

Respectfully, I wholly disagree with John McTernan.

The Tories have shovelled power into the hands of the executive, which Labour *could* use for its own purposes. But in so doing, it would entrench & legitimise that power.

The ring must be destroyed. Its power can only corrupt

The introduction of voter ID was a voter suppression tactic and it could still work. If you know any young people - I don't - make sure they understand what they'll need to vote.

The very people and parties who destroyed FE and the apprenticeship system are the same people who always rant about who important they are as opposed to universities. While doing the same thing to universities.

Only eleven wealthy tax evaders were prosecuted in the latest year; not one person has yet been prosecuted for the vast state-sanctioned PPE swindle.

Yet carers on tiny incomes face the full hammer of the law. Why is the story always the same? theguardian.com/society/2024/a…

I’m glad this scandal is coming to light. Tens of thousands of family carers have been threatened with prosecution by the government over minor breaches of benefit rules. Some forced to repay £20k or risk prison over innocent overpayments. theguardian.com/society/2024/a… Patrick Butler

Brexit is also a lack of confidence that the UK can compete on level terms diplomatically with France and Germany, economically with Ireland and Netherlands, socially with Denmark and Czechia.

So they voted to run away from real free (libre) trade and a real union of equals.

Numbers of young people are about to surge. Most universities are shrinking or about to shrink. You do the maths.

Just a hunch... but this might be what happens if you continuously talk down London. When you fail to support the building of new homes to bring down prices. And essentially defund it's transport network due to petty politics.

The Tories and Labour know they will never be able to persuade a majority of us to vote for them so they are desperate to cling on to an out of date, unfair electoral system that gives them massive majorities without needing to. (The leadership of Labour)

This is how New Zealand TV is reporting the Brexit trade deal with the UK

They visibly can't believe their luck that British farming has been made the 'sacrificial lamb' for a deal hugely beneficial to NZ with 'negligeable benefits for UK farmers who get nothing in return' 👇
