To qualify for the Plan, you must have federal student loans (unfortunately, parent plus loans are not eligible). Private loans are not eligible for or any other income-driven repayment plans.

Yes - see if you're eligible for SAVE at studentaid.gov/SAVE ! Borrowers already on the old Revised Pay As You Earn or the REPAYE Plan will be put on the SAVE Plan automatically; they won't need to sign up. SAVE replaces REPAYE.

SAVE is one type of income-driven repayment (IDR) plan. SAVE is not going to replace cancellation (which is going through a negotiated rulemaking process) - but is an interim solution that will help millions of borrowers as payments return.
