This week Relph made me wear green as we spread the Rooted message celebrating World Earth Day at Reckitt, Hull. We spoke to a lot of people who showed an interest in our volunteering opportunities. We even sold a calendar! (it was mostly Relph what did the sellin')

St Nicks visited @rootedinhull .A fabulous, community led urban farm located on the site of a dry dock on the River Hull. Rooted in Hull is all about connecting people through food and being together. It shows what can be done when we work together.

A typical Wednesday Gather and Grow day! Great chat, a bit of graft and some hot soup to finish. Join us every Wednesday morning from 10am until 1pm or let someone else know who might not see this. At Rooted in Hull, we grow people and food.

We have received a welcome donation from The Lionel Du Pre Trust. They found us and invited us to apply for their grant. We were delighted to tell them about all the good things we do. Their donation will help us to continue to run our weekly women’s group.

We are still working out the finer details of our live nature streaming. Here are a couple of the stars we have discovered so far!

We’re closed this week, but planting has begun, now let’s watch Mother Nature do her stuff! Don’t forget, you can grow your own veg in the smallest of spaces. Let’s see where you’re doing it, and we can have ourselves a homegrown gallery featuring all your attempts this year.

We know it’s officially spring when the Rooted in Sunshine women’s group are back on site for their regular Thursday session. The women meet for companionship, crafting, cooking, and a shared meal every Thursday from 10am until 1pm and its free.

We’re hoping we don’t capture Jaymee and the Urbunnys in the same shot. Our work over the last ten years appears to be encouraging a diverse wildlife population, and we seem to be getting some success with our wildlife camera.

Well, we seem to be getting used to this kind of attention, it helps to know we’re doing something right. The BBC's Mark Lane and his crew came to make a little piece about our work in the city, particularly around Hull city council’s recent right to grow announcement.

Spring!

We have made it, although we all know it’s still cold for a few more weeks. The spring flowers are here and Rooted is ready to grow. Here’s some tremendous tulip action!

All we see, is the beginnings of our favourite season, and time to at least plan what we would like to eat this year. Who’s up for a bit of our Paul’s fruit crumble when its time? We’ll pop some in for you.

Hydroponics!

This week’s Wednesday Gather and Grow session saw one of our regulars, Stu, explaining how to grow without soil, and actually several ways to do it with hydroponics. Looking forward to seeing something grow with this little solar powered project.

Bit wet down at Rooted today, it's difficult to imagine the place bursting with happy folk. So here's a photo to remind you of our fairer weather gatherings from last summer, can't wait for the action.

Remember the Calendars we had done? Well, there are still a few left. As we’re a month down, we will sell the remaining few for £10, so speak up now if you would like one, or pop down to the farm and collect. The calendars also feature 4 seasonal recipes from our chef Paul
