#OnThisDay Thirty years ago, in 1990, The Queen officially launched HMS Lancaster and became the ship’s Sponsor. HMS Lancaster is known as ‘The Queen’s Frigate’. 👑⚓️

HMS Lancaster has a crew of 185 Royal Navy personnel on board, and is currently alongside at Her Majesty’s Naval Base, Portsmouth.

During her thirty years of service, HMS Lancaster has played an important role on the high seas, tackling drug smuggling in the Caribbean and piracy off the Horn of Africa, as well as keeping UK waters safe.
