#Queen #Ingrid of #Denmark started life as a Princess of Sweden. Her mother was a Britiish #Princess #Margeret of #Connaught , a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. It is fun to look at how all these royals are still related today.

OTD in 1913 King George I of Greece was assassinated in the streets of Salonika. The brother of Frederik VIII of Denmark, Queen Alexandra, and Empress Marie Feodorovna of Russia, he was also the great-grandfather of King Charles.

Died on 17th March 1904, Field Marshal, Prince George, Duke of Cambridge, grandson of King George III. He was illegally married in contravention of the Royal Marriages Act and his wife and sons were never acknowledged by Queen Victoria.

Born on 17th March 1886, Princess Patricia of of Connaught, later Lady Patricia Ramsay, granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

Born on 17th March 1637, the short lived Princess Anne Stuart, daughter of Charles I and Henrietta Maria.

Because of the war, her elder daughter Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden was unable to come to England the funeral.

#OnThisDay in 1948 Princess Helena Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein died. She was born in 1870 as the daughter of Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein and Princess Helena of the United Kingdom. She never married and devoted her life to charity.

Died on 14th March 1917, Louise Margaret, Duchess of Connaught, born a Princess of Prussia. She died the day after her 38th wedding anniversary. She is the great grandmother of Queen Margarethe of Denmark and King Carl Gustaf of Sweden.

Born on 12th March 1637, Anne Hyde, Duchess of York. Although she never became Queen Consort, she is the only woman to be mother to two English/British Queen Regnants, Mary II and Anne.

My grandmother Emma Bruce. Spent much of her childhood in the workhouse due to her father’s poor health. Sent by the workhouse into service at fourteen. Was one of the first generation of women given the vote in 1918. #InternationalWomansDay

It was lovely watching the award show for #500Words on #TheOneShow #BBC1 from Buckingham Palace attended by Queen Camilla. As a retired primary teacher, it was great to see writing by under 11 year olds celebrated.
