Our 2nd annual “night at the museum” organized by the University of Utah DASL group was a great success! Students delivered TED format talks to a general audience NHMU, funded by CZI Science as part of a science communication workshop I run.
Mitochondrial complex I construction relies on a patchwork of poorly defined 'assembly factors.' In work led by Andrew Sung, we used deep mutational scanning to elucidate NDUFAF6 function and predict variant pathogenicity.

Feng Xiao spent 8 years trying to find out how cardiomyocytes disassemble their sarcomeres during mitosis. Grateful for her dedication and to Nguyen Ngoc Uyen Nhi who took on the difficult task of finishing this project. Thankful for our wonderful collaborators. bit.ly/3UP82hO
CoQ10 is a very hydrophobic molecule with poor bioavailability. In this new study, led by Laura Steenberge, we build on prior work to show that the much more soluble CoQ4 is sufficient to rescue diverse CoQ functions and can be targeted to mitochondria.

Tonight on #MitoMonday we briefly highlight the life and works of an extraordinary scientist who co-discovered a treatment for tuberculosis, and helped establish federal asbestos regulations, Dr. Irving Selikoff. #LateNightWithTheRutterLab
V happy to share my work in DeBerardinis Lab Children’s Research Institute at UT Southwestern from past 2 yr! In equal collab with Tony Rodrigues, Dwendscheck (dwendscheck.bsky.social), Jorge Azevedo’s lab, Warscheid lab, we have discovered PEX39, the first human peroxisomal biogenesis protein (peroxin/PEX) found in > 20 yr! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…🧵
Really happy to share this pre-print!
Some really interesting findings and hopefully after review it can become a useful resource for the metabolism field!
Thanks to Peter Mullen for making it happen, plus a load of fantastic collaborators! Lyssiotis Lab Brian Kennedy
Excited, the first batch of MS/MS from ~ 50,000 molecules. Free to download and use. 12,000 drugs -pos and neg mode. Others include Bile acids, n-acyl lipids, natural products, flavonoids etc. Good start. We will update periodically in GNPS - UC San Diego. external.gnps2.org/gnpslibrary
