The RSCM has launched their Church Music Skills programme. It combines home study and practical experience in the student’s church, with assignments assessed by their team of tutors. It is open to students from the UK and abroad.

On Saturday 13th April at 2pm a memorial service for our late Patron, Catherine Ennis, will be held at St Lawrence Jewry Church, Guildhall Yard, Gresham Street, London EC2V 5AA. It will begin with a half hour organ recital followed by the memorial service itself.

Born 4th April 1906 in Ohio, Eunice Lea Kettering began composing as a child and later studied at Oberlin Conservatory and with Bartók. She created many works and had over 20000 copies published. She was the first woman to gain Fellowship of the American Guild of Organists.

The Northern Ireland International Organ Competition for players up to 21 years old is open. It will take place from 12 to 14 August 2024 in Armagh. The jury will be chaired by Thomas Trotter with Anna-Victoria Baltrusch and David Hill. NIIOC

25th March 2024 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Julia Perry in Akron, Ohio. After attending Westminster Choir College, she also studied with Luigi Dallapicola and Nadia Boulanger. Her works include sacred choral pieces.

Today is the birthday of Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre. Born in 1665, she became famous composing operas, trio sonatas, keyboard suites. She was a teacher and godmother to L C Daquin.
