stonewall’s always been shit, but i’m worried about this because stonewall is also pretty much the only uk lgbt+ org with any significant presence in schools. their endorsement of the report will inevitably enable & expand the harm it’ll do to young people.

I'm not even slightly surprised at Stonewall deciding to throw trans people under the bus. They actively refused to support trans rights for years until public opinion bullied them into it. I imagine their leadership has been looking forward to this moment ever since.

On the down side noone is coming to save us and things will get at least a bit worse in the future.

On the up side, we ourselves are the ones who can save us, and we have the ability to start putting work into that right now.

The LGBT ngo nexus has failed us completely because they are simply not prepared to accept the end of all their cozy little consultations with ministers and nice little awards ceremonies. We have to *fight* and fighting is bad for your funding.

My big takeaway from the Cass review is that this is hugely dangerous for not just Gillick competence, but for the presumed medical competence of *adults* full stop - Because if a 24yo can't meaningfully consent to a mastectomy, how could they ever consent to an abortion?

one last thing on cass before i go do something else to calm down: if you applied the standards of evidence she's demanding to everything else you would eliminate 90% of clinical care in this country
