If you grew up in the 1970s, you didn't know any autistic people because they were locked away. You're right, the improvements in diagnosis do not fully explain the increase in visibility. The other factor is the closure of institutions. Hope this helps.

I keep seeing injustices, where folks with some power refuse to act. Teachers. Doctors. Lawyers. Journalists. Profs. And so on. Because “it will cost us money! We might be arrested/jailed!” And yes, it will and you might. And you need to do it anyway.

This “report” was lazy and biased and set out to get the result they were looking for.

This. Read this review, “… entire chunks of content copied across from the BCHRC report into the literature review for the EPSB report.” Seems bad - like maybe @epsb_super and EPSB didn’t quite get what they paid for.

I support teachers. I want good teachers who care about kids and I want them paid well. I want everyone to be safe. But y’all are the adults. If you can’t safely do your jobs, you need to advocate, or strike. Stop acting powerless when you’re in the power position & blaming kids.

This is exactly the problem and why it’s OBVIOUS this was a push from administration. With the situation EPSB is with overcrowding they’re about to have a ton of out of control schools and this makes the problem not theirs to solve. Kids lives are going to be ruined over this.
