The record for the most Hart Trophies won in an NHL career was broken in 1938 by a Saskatchewan-born player and again in 1960 by another Saskatchewan-born player before Wayne Gretzky broke the record in 1986 during his streak of eight straight years of being named the NHL’s MVP.
