Modern acting technique is not American. It’s Russian. Read The Group Theatre. All acting today stems from Stanislavsky. Shakespeare is just learning Iambic Pentameter. It’s not a different acting style. You can still use Stanis with Shakespeare. Here’s me doing it in London.

My favourite theatre novel is BLACK SNOW by Mikhail Bulgakov, based on Stanislavsky at the Moscow Art Theatre - riotously funny and accurate about the life of the theatre

Stanislavsky wouldn't have been considered 'classical' unless you're talking about the version he taught when he FIRST came to London BEFORE it was transformed into what we know as the 'Method' style of acting. As a matter of fact, Stanislavsky's Method is the antithesis of

Note the body language of LT. She must have undergone Stanislavsky/Method Acting training to get her neck moves mirroring those of Maggie Thatcher - some psychological undercurrents at play in this person’s psyche!
