@Schlumpfpilz Judy Webb NearbyWild #RewildTheEarth @TwigEye I guess we all have different ideas of what it 'should' look like, with one woman earlier in the week saying she thought it was like the Garden of Eden! Our emphasis on short though is just for things like reed, and some grasses, to let more of our rarer plants thrive.
@Schlumpfpilz Lysandra Pyle, PhD π¨π¦πΎ @NMSUGanguli Looking to restore some of the native diversity back to the site and ID factors for restoration success. There's a big empty plot there set up for field experiments I'll be working in...next year, when we can do fieldwork and the pandemic is under control π

Jenna LeBlanc @Schlumpfpilz Lysandra Pyle, PhD π¨π¦πΎ @NMSUGanguli Given my familiarity with that site I would recommend that pest control be your primary focus before you start any restoration efforts.
Watershed Brewing Co. @Schlumpfpilz Springtime Stevie G McCord Yep, lager yeast like humans work in colder temperatures just not as fast as you would if it was 18-20C out haha.

@Schlumpfpilz There was a recent survey by a couple of Ostrom's former students of how Hardin's essay is taught in sustainability programs: It found that natural scientists in particular are not aware of the current scholarly consensus about Hardin's work. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10β¦

Lysandra Pyle, PhD π¨π¦πΎ A Smith Muise @Schlumpfpilz Lysandra- I will echo what Amy said, you have done great things here, covid has just made everything complicated and not what we have planned!
@Schlumpfpilz I still have my undergrads read Hardin, but Hardin must be read alongside Ostrom and others. Its a great example of an essay that teaches us alot by being (mostly) wrong. If we understand why Hardin is wrong about the commons & about population, we can make better policies.
@Schlumpfpilz Graham Thomson Darren Markland I understand that, and itβs a shame there was cuts to the fire smart program years ago, but I think downplaying the fact that severity and frequency is due to climate change isnβt ok.
@Schlumpfpilz @BringeGloria #Marshes are not boring. Where else can you find frogs(grenouille) big enough to have #frog_legs ? Of course, they don't jump very well after that. However, they are good bait for other #creatures_which_shall_not_be_named .
Darren Markland @Schlumpfpilz @kimpagegluckie That does not make sense. If there is a lot of work, why so few positions?
