Child poverty levels have risen again, to 4.3m. In the 10 years from 2012/13 to 2022/23, the number of children in poverty rose by 700K (27%>30%). The drop caused by the £20 UC increase was clearly a blip and its reversal & further income shocks are sending child poverty soaring.

We are distressed to hear that during Assembly Committee for Communities officials stated an Anti-Poverty strategy is 'months away' from being brought to the Executive. We feel this is out of step with the level of need presenting in our communities & impacts the futures of 1 in 10 of our children

Today we release research into how many NI children are impacted by poverty because their families face barriers to work. These barriers include: already working maximum hours available, managing caring responsibilities, or dealing with long-term health-condition/disability
