Ford government House Leader Paul Calandra just got up in the Legislature over the Keffiyeh ban and really said “I don’t need to take lessons from the Ontario NDP on marginalized people. I’m ITALIAN!”

Members of the Arab Canadian Lawyers Association had a meeting scheduled with NDP leader Marit Stiles.

They were barred from entering QP due to the keffiyeh ban. They’re now having an outdoor meeting on the legislative grounds.

Today I tried to enter Queen’s Park wearing keffiyehs I inherited from my mom’s closet several years ago.

I was told I couldn’t wear my scarves— that they’re banned.

I told them I’m Palestinian and this is my heritage, and it’s my right to wear it and be treated equally.

As a Columbia Law School alum and J.S.D. student, and as a Lincoln Alexander School of Law professor, I am appalled by the #AntiPalestinianRacism enacted by both administrations.

I stand in unequivocal solidarity with the betrayed students organizing on both campuses, just as I stand with Palestine.

Despite arrests, Columbia students are still going strong at this historic anti-genocide encampment on the university campus. They are demanding that Columbia divest from the Zionist regime and their numbers are steadily growing.

Far beyond complicity.

🧵Kuffiyeh ban at Queen's Park is just one example of anti-Palestinian racism at provincial level. No doubt, Speaker did not consult Palestinians b/f unilaterally declaring the kuffiyeh no longer cultural. Who brought this to his attention? What will be banned next?

Forget facially neutral adverse impact, we are literally back to textbook explicit legislated racism. Don't need CRT for this lol
