The very best of luck to our Leaving Certificate students as they begin their oral exams from tomorrow.

SGS students recently visited the local apprenticeship centre with Ms. McGuinness and learned about apprenticeships available. Students enjoyed their trip to the centre and were highly impressed by the facilities and courses on offer there.

Green Schools TY programme are involved in the 'Power to Change' project led by Dr Yvonne Lang from ATU.

Cross-Curricular Work
First Year Business Studies and Second Year Home Economics students collaborated on a co-curricular project, making festive treats for Christmas. We were delighted to donate the profits of €314 to North West Hospice recently.

CONGRATULATIONS JUNIOR MATHS TEAM!

Our Junior Maths team competed at the IMTA 'Pi quiz' schools competition today and came away with 1st place. They will now compete in the National competition in Maynooth

🎭 Congratulations to our fifth form student and Drama Club member, Dara Kilcommons, who has been accepted by the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London (RADA). He will participate in a two week immersive course this summer. 🎭

Junior & Senior Connacht Cup Rugby Finals tomorrow!
The very best of luck tomorrow to our two rugby squads and their management teams who are heading off to the Dexcom Stadium, Galway. SGS will be facing Marist College, Athlone in both finals.

To kick off Seachtain na Gaeilge, we had a lunchtime session with our trad musicians all taking part in entertaining students and staff. First years also enjoyed An Poc Fada out on the pitch.

Senior Girls narrowly lose in Senior Hockey Semi-final.
The girls were unlucky to narrowly miss out in the Costello Cup semi final against Jesuits, Galway losing 1-0.
Well done to Jessica Greer winning Player of the Match.

Senior Rugby Connacht Cup Semi-final Win!
Final score last Wednesday against St.Muredach's College, Ballina was 17-10.
Tries scored by Gareth McGinty, Max Hunter and Dylan McCloat. Conversion by Mark Tempany.
SGS will play Marist College, Athlone in the final on the 13 March.

The very best of luck to our Senior Girls' Hockey Team who will travel to Dangan, Galway tomorrow to play against The Jesuits, Galway in the semi-finals of the league.

Well done to our Senior Rugby Team on cementing their place in the 2024 Connacht Senior Cup final earlier today.

🇮🇪 Congratulations to our Fifth Form student Diarmaid O'Connell.

Diarmaid who is no stranger to international duty at this stage has already played for Ireland v Italy in the U-18 clubs match last October.

He has now been selected again to play against Wales on March 10th. 🇮🇪

Well done to Mark Tempany and Diarmaid O'Connell who represented their clubs again recently in the Connacht U-19s provincial Interpro against a strong Munster side.

Well done to the Kalu brothers, Kelvin (third year) and Kenneth (first year) who had a fantastic meet in Athlone at the weekend at the Connacht Indoor Finals.

Kelvin broke the Connacht record in the long jump at U16 level.

Best of luck to our senior Maths students at the I.M.T.A. regional round in Donegal today. Representing the school are Conor Ryan, Darragh Robinson and Jack Martin.

SGS played the Carrick-on-Shannon U16 squad today in a friendly at the Grammar School. SGS had a narrow 2 point win. A great match played in great spirit. Well done all!
