Jody SouthamptonCC Southampton Travel Southampton Street Space This sign signifies the design doesn't work, otherwise a sign wouldn't be needed. SCC need to look at Coventry, as per below. An excellent and clear design. Whereas SCC have already erected yellow signs at one crossing and warning signs at another (also pictured). Rubbish design.

Hey SouthamptonCC Southampton Travel you guys should get some of these to put next to new infrastructure (like the crossing you've just installed on Fort Road). It would help your Places team get the word out to drivers and give pedestrians confidence. Southampton Street Space

86 headteachers have written an open letter to Mayor Rahman, expressing deep concern over his decision to prioritize cars over student safety in Bethnal Green and urging him to reconsider.

The Mayor has consistently ignored vital input from schools.

Maybe they could help sort out the regular flooding of the pedestrian crossing on Portsmouth Road (A3025) in Southampton (perhaps using the area of pavement that's constantly being parked all over ) Southampton Cycling Campaign Southampton Street Space SouthamptonCC Southampton Travel Nathan_A_RF

Roads aren't the only way to move around in a city and region on the water.
Good news here, let's hope that this isn't just about keeping what we already have and is actually the first step in a newly growing network of water based links...

Helsinki planners have modelled what happens when pedestrians are prioritised, rather than forced to wait ages to cross.

They found that a 5% improvement in the walking environment leads to a 2.3% increase in public transport use and €8.5 million increase in fares.

So, how? 🧵

Lots of stuff on twitter about needing 20mph 'only round schools', but children need 20mph on their whole route walking or cycling to school. At any time there are far more children outside 'outside school' than than 'outside school'. Its why 20mph is best for communities.

In the 70s car movements on this street were completely removed.

As you can clearly see, all the houses have burned down and nobody has had working plumbing since.

The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility.

Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it.

Imagine if at the start of every news bulletin they announced how many deaths and injuries there'd been on the country's roads the previous day.
