🇳🇿 & 🇺🇸 have recommitted to their strategic partnership in Washington today, pledging to work ever more closely together in support of shared values and interests, the Foreign Minister says.

The Foreign Minister held a 🇳🇿 media stand-up following his meeting with Secretary Antony Blinken.

The discussion with TVNZ+ & Newshub’s 🇺🇸 correspondents was held at the National Museum of International Diplomacy.

The Minister had breakfast with Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell this morning.

They discussed:

-🇺🇸/🇳🇿 cooperation, incl on foreign policy/economic issues and in the Pacific;

-Strategic challenges in the Indo-Pacific;

-Ukraine; and

-Gaza

They recommitted to the historic partnership between 🇳🇿 & 🇺🇸 and the principles that underpin it.

They agreed 🇳🇿 & 🇺🇸 would work even more closely to tackle global challenges & champion shared values/interests.

Five years ago the people of New Zealand were shocked and horrified by the terrorist attack on two Masajid in Christchurch. Today, our thoughts are with our Muslim whānau who lost loved ones, and those who have survived and endured enormous grief and suffering since that day.

Delighted to join Pacific Island Forum Ambassadors for lunch in New York today. Much to discuss especially given our shared priorities for the #Pacific and our collaboration on them with the US ⁦NZ at the UN⁩
