The odds of a rate cut at the Fed's May meeting have collapsed with the release of three hot inflation reports in a row.

Looking at Powell's three inflation 'buckets', we see:

- core goods still deflating
- core services re-accelerating
- housing still declining (but at a slowing pace)

Looking month over month, inflation came in higher than expected, at 0.4% core and headline (0.3% expected).

Inflation came in hotter than expected in March, with the headline rate ticking up to 3.5% (3.4% expected), and the core rate holding steady at 3.8% (3.7% expected).
