Ontario hospitals ran up 6 million agency nursing hours, paying premiums of 2x & more the regular hourly rate in 2020-21– the equivalent cost of 7,000 full-time nursing positions. Decades of hospital management exploiting nurses & treating them as disposable brought us to this.

In education, you get what you pay for.

If you want a world class education system (Canada is typically around 8th btw) then you need to fund it. See Finland. Education workers are provided resources, funding, and most importantly respect. The results tell all.

Today John Sewell, planning expert, Toronto’s 58th mayor and Order of Canada member was denied the ability to voice his concerns and was thrown out of the provincial legislature by security.

A lovely bit of buoyant hope in those last lines.

Premier Doug Ford reads from a teleprompter during his press conferences, but I wasn't aware till today that he's also fed pre-written answers to journalists' questions via teleprompter, as my colleague @empelletierLD points out.
