Pub 2779, Ship Inn, Exeter. Side alley arser, but I’m liking the low beams & wolf howling hound presiding over an 8/10 rug. Wife exasperated by her hubbie, and thinks Shepton Mallet is the answer. Cameo bar bloke says ‘good choice’ on my ale but I nearly ordered this 🤦🏻

Pub 2778, George’s Meeting House, Exeter. Top tier Spoons kicks us off. Wood panels, beautiful stained glass, upper gantry. The punters subconsciously observe the ecclesiastical calm with hushed reverence. Only carpet is up near the loos. 7/10. Beer is pure gin & tonic.

Pub 2776, Angel & Harp, Great Dunmow. Man wears pig head on his own head; if me n Colin convince everyone we’ve never argued, we get a flitch of bacon 🥓 Carpet an exciting 7.5. Lord Mayor doing stuff in background. Drama here.

Pub 2775, Picture Palace, Braintree. Perfect Spooooons. The people help. 8.5/10 carpet, scrotes n hilarious staff n blokes on scooters. Pint of 101 Dalmatians, or is it just a film?

Pub 2774, Cross Keys, White Notley. This is good considering it is dining. Very low beams and friendly. Lovely chips. Darkest IPA ever. Called ‘White N.’ cos they avoided the Black Plague. So far!

Pub 2773, Woolpack, Witham. Lovely pub tucked away by church. Men play doms. One is Scottish. That’s when you know you are in a boozer. Carpet a chunky red 8. Pool, darts, pewters, plaques for the dead, n those weird puzzles you get at Christmas.
