Yesterday, I heard about the great things happening at Cardinal Elementary from some great fifth-graders! I finished my tour of the school taking in some of the great art around the building.

This afternoon I visited Langston High School and saw a math class solving equations. I also witnessed the cross departmental collaboration with dynamic teachers! I also saw the Student Support team planning hard at work.

At APS-Career Center yesterday, I met with students in the DEI office to talk about their hopes and dreams for their futures. I also met with students who passed the cosmetology practical state boards.

I’m at Yorktown High School this morning talking to AP Seminar students. I also got to try some great coffee and pasties from Yorktown’s finest students! I finished my visit by being interviewed by students in Photography class.

This morning, I met with students and staff at Jamestown Elementary as part of my spring school visits. Students presented to judges for the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Project. Principal Michelle McCarthy took a climb on the wall and students visited the book fair. It was a busy morning!

I had a great visit to Swanson Admirals for their Purple Up assembly. Wonderful performance by the Army Fife and Drum Corps. Great job by the Swanson Purple Frogs! I'm so honored to support our Arlington military-connected community.

My next school visit today took me to KWBarrett Elementary. I started at the visit at the “Barrett, We are Barrett, We are Mindful, We are Helpful and We are Powerful” wall. Next, I visited a classroom where students were learning about bats. I also engaged with fifth-grade students

This morning, I visited BarcroftEagles. I met with Ms. McCormick-Evan’s first grade class during their morning meeting. Next, I saw a Phonemic Awareness activity in action. I finished the visit by watching an intervention lesson. #APSisAwesome #EveryAPSstudent

At Kenmore, I observed the incredible energy in Ms. Soriano's eighth-grade pre-algebra class. She's a former principal from New York who joined APS to share her passion for math. I also met students in Kenmore's STEAM Certificate Program which inspires students to explore science
