#xhistogram v0.3.0 is out. Among other things, it includes a big performance boost for Xarray objects built on Dask arrays.
Thanks to all contributors: Ryan Abernathey, Tom Nicholas, Gabe Joseph, James Bourbeau, Yang Yunyi.

Michael Liebreich AukeHoekstra margriet kuijper Jeroen van den Bergh Tom Nicholas @MLCleaningUp Marco Raugei Thanks for this! I first encountered a critique (GHG vs Energy ROI) at the start of my course with this (fairly old) paper: bit.ly/2JinZv9
I'm aware the EROI critique is broader than this, so a Michael Liebreich x AukeHoekstra EROI debunk collaboration would be amazing!
I've finally found the time to read this piece by Tom Nicholas @GalenHall4 & Colleen B. Schmidt which criticizes Deep Adaptation - and I think it's brilliant & deserves all the exposure it's getting. opendemocracy.net/en/oureconomy/…

Thought provoking piece, citing Tom Nicholas, @galenhall4 and Colleen B. Schmidt, resisting the core and flawed premise of ‘Doomism’ that “there is nothing to be done”. Human agency is, as Prof Michael E. Mann has argued, a reason why we *can* and must act.
How young optimistic wannabe-scientists from XR or Extinction Rebellion get it wrong when they lash out at a 50-yr Arctic field researcher.

How much has Oxford really Divested?
This year alone Oxford pulled out of 30 mil in fossil fuel investments from 1.7 to .6%. Over the past 10 years while the campaign has kept up pressure Oxford has divested more than 200 million from fuels. #OxfordDivests 1/4 Tom Nicholas
When I first read the openDemocracy piece by Tom Nicholas @GalenHall4 Colleen B. Schmidt berating Deep Adaptation Forum for 'doomism' it felt a little too Oedipal, a projection to slay the 'patriarch' despite, as Prof Jem Bendell 🌍☸️ says, many of its criticisms being refuted elsewhere 1/7
@TricksyRaccoon I'm @Ketanjoshi.co on Bluesky Tom Nicholas If it helps add another receipt to your file, I was able to win one debate on Malthus depopulation merely by pointing out his employer was THE colonialist company of his time if not all-time—East India Company.
He was 1800s biggest corporate shill—
Tom Nicholas Ken Rice But as Mike Berners-Lee and Duncan Clark point out there's no guarantee that renewable energy will displace fossil fuels. Past energy additions have just been additive and we've found new uses for the supply!
We need a constraint on carbon extraction.
Tom Nicholas @GalenHall4 Colleen B. Schmidt Thank you for this. It's both fascinating and depressing to see how many have gone from 'It's all a hoax' to 'We're doomed!', eschewing the option of accepting the reality of the situation and attempting to do something constructive about it.
In open source, you often have a choice: work around an upstream bug or try to fix it at the source. The former is quicker in the short term. The latter is how we move the ecosystem forward together.
🙌 to Tom Nicholas for always taking the high road.
