No other word in English begins with \et-set\

You may have pronounced it more like 'ecsetera' or “excetera,' kind of like 'except'/'excess'/'exciting.'

We include the alternate pronunciation but label it as nonstandard.

We asked U.S. public K-12 teachers about some of the challenges students at their school are facing. Three problems topped the list:
