This afternoon I joined Folajimi’s family to remember Jimi and his selfless bravery which sadly cost him his life 3yrs ago.

I spoke about the fact that far too often young people are demonised as trouble makers, but Jimi was a hero.
His family want to establish Folajimi Day.

Today marks 3 years since Folajimi ‘Jimi’ Olubunmi-Adewole, 20, died after heroically jumping into the river Thames to save a woman from drowning in what was described as a ‘sheer act of bravery.’

Four arrests have been made outside a pub in Whitehall. One on suspicion of assault and three on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

Officers were quickly on scene and order has been restored.

The southbound carriageway was briefly blocked but has now been reopened.

Whitehall has reopened to traffic in both directions following an earlier closure to deal with people trying to move away from the allocated event area.

There have been no further incidents since that altercation. There is still a significant police presence.
